Samuel Hindolo is a painter whose work depicts indeterminate humanlike figures located in architectures and passageways. He sometimes additionally works in video, images, sculpture, and sound. Samuel Hindolo (b. 1990, in Cheverly, Prince George’s County, Maryland) acquired his MFA from Bard Faculty in 2021 and lives and works between Brussels and Berlin. “Visitor room” is his first solo exhibition with Galerie Buchholz.

Disciples within the Backyard is an outline of Christ’s three dearest buddies asleep in Gethsemane with their chins to their chests. Someplace exterior the body is Christ complaining about one thing. He turns to them for assist and luxury on this second of intense agony. Night time persists and his heavy eyed cohort joins him. Finally they abandon him for a nap. The duty at hand is just too grand for them to confront—so relaxation it’s! They’ve settled for a chilly patch of floor. Being adrift offers them the sense that they’re elsewhere in some extended retreat from the current when in actual fact looming within the distance is one thing else.
