Offered as an interactive listening room, “This track is for… vol 1” is a novel assortment of six vinyl information, drawn from the artist’s multi-channel video and sound set up, This track is for… (2019). On this extra intimate context, the tactile, interactive type of the information engenders a distinct form of listening expertise, during which rituals of care attend and grant reverence to the sonic expertise.

In This track is for… Goliath returns to and re-performs the favored con­vention of the dedication track, in collaboration with a bunch of girls and gen­der-queer led musical ensembles. Every of the eleven songs (six of that are included right here) had been personally chosen by a survivor of rape and subsequently carried out as a newly produced cover-version. These are songs of particular significance to the survivors, songs that transport them again to a specific time and place, evoking a sensory world of reminiscence and feeling.

A sonic disruption is launched at some extent inside every track, recalling the “damaged document” impact of a scratched vinyl LP. Offered on this carried out musical rup­ture is a chance for listeners to affectively inhabit a contest­ed area of traumatic recall—one during which the de-subjectifying violence of rape and its psychic afterlives turn out to be painfully entangled with private and political claims to life, dignity, hope, religion, even pleasure.
