A pioneer of the efficiency artwork motion of the late Nineteen Sixties, Barbara T. Smith has lengthy produced work that explores the self, sexuality, gender roles, bodily and non secular sustenance, love, life, and loss of life. Smith” (2005, Pomona School Museum of Artwork). To accompany this singular presentation, ICA LA will publish Smith’s first survey catalogue, which will probably be designed by Kimberly Varella of Content material Object (C/O) and launched within the spring of 2024. That includes an illustrated chronology of Smith’s life and art work compiled by Jenelle Porter, {the catalogue} may even embrace commissioned texts by main students Gloria Sutton, Catherine Taft, and Pietro Rigolo, on, respectively, Smith’s work because it pertains to new applied sciences, ecofeminism, and the archive.
